Free Art Workshop

Free Art Workshop

At the Beyond the Arts Free Art Workshop held on November 12, 2011 Choreographer Board Member Phanta Wynn used Romaire Beardens painting “Fallin Star” to incorporate the concept of beginning, middle, and end through creative dance.

Participants choose a pose for each concept, while poses were derived from the painting…(i.e. Fallin Star- hands reaching up to the stars and falling down swiftly….) Each child was allowed to choreograph their own piece and were later  placed in groups for group performances

On Nov 12, 2011 Beyond the Arts, Inc. hosted a “Free Art Workshop” with inspiration from Romaire Beardens’ art piece “Fallin Star,” students were taught how to use lines to create a visual masterpiece. Using the concept of “A beginning, middle, and end!”

We undoubtedly believe the collaboration of arts education, apprenticeship, and community service ensures healthy development of young people, their families, and their surrounding community.

At the heart of Beyond The Arts is the belief that the arts will encourage youth to appreciate diversity and creativity, while also building their self-esteem and self-sufficiency.
